About Angela

How I started...

Raised partly in Southern California and Atlanta, now currently residing in South Florida with her husband and younger son, this Auburn University graduate and former pharmaceutical sales rep created the Bakers Sto' N Go system back in 2007 so bakers, moms and cooks could easily stack their baked items without them getting ruined while in transport.

Angela came up with the idea of Bakers Sto 'N Go as an accident of sorts. While doing meditation one day, it occurred to her that something like this should be developed and put into the marketplace. It was completely unintended, but she always knew that a product like this should exist.

Here's a questionnaire conducted back in 2012.

1. Tell us about yourself?
Grew up in Southern California and Atlanta, Georgia, graduated college from Auburn University. Mostly worked in Healthcare Sales, from Pharmaceutical to Operating Room Sales. A total blast, and then transitioned into an “entrepreneur”, changed my life, and is nothing like anything I’ve ever done before. Completely out of my comfort zone. And sales are all I know. Very funny!  I am a wife, a mom, and now an entrepreneur!

2. Tell us about your business.
Bakers Sto N Go started back in 2007 and came out with a bang. I developed a food storage container with adjustable shelves so bakers, moms, cooks could easily stack their baked items without their items getting ruined.

3. Why did you start your own business?
I didn’t really plan to start my own business at first. I was in sales, loving every minute of it, and then I had the idea of inventing this. I continued to work my Operating Room sales job, and decided to see how far this could take me. Well it went far. The odds are always against inventors, but I decided to see what this product could do. Then I became pregnant, and at 7 months pregnant I decided to quit my day job, and focus on my business. And I had such success immediately, I was over whelmed.

4. How did you come up with the idea for the Baker’s Sto n Go?
To be honest, I was doing my meditation one day, and it literally came to me. I decided to investigate what this image in my mind was, and as I did, I become clearer that I should develop this. Was not intended at all. Completely by accident. But I will say deep inside I always knew something like this should exist. After all, I am in the kitchen quite often, and this was needed in the marketplace.

5. And now you have an entire line of products. Tell us more about that!
Well actually all I have is the one container in many colors. We are working on developing a line and more sizes in the future.

6. What do you like most and least about being your own boss?
Least – very boring, as I am a people person.
Most – Hours have allowed me to be with my son and raise him. Not having to leave him.

7. What personality traits and skills are needed to run a business?
Oh my, there are so many. First and foremost, you need to be organized!!! Without that you won’t be able to get anything done. Then you must learn patience, and how to treat people even when you know they are wrong. You need to answer ever phone call with a smile even when you don’t want to. You need to know how to dictate with sounding mean or condescending. It’s a fine line. You need a plan and know how to stick by it, and not really deviate from it, however, only when it’s beneficial to the business. You need marketing skills.

8. What has been the most difficult part of being an entrepreneur?
You’re on your own. No one will tell you if it’s right or wrong. You have to figure everything out by yourself with your own research. You need to be able to differentiate between the people who truly want to help you and the ones who want to scam you. There are so much of both out there, you just have to search. And it’s hard!

9. Do you have any resources you have used to build your business that you would recommend?
Not really, unfortunately. What worked for me may not work for someone else. I did a lot of research, met a lot of people, and traveled to shows. I came across some really good people that had my best interest at heart. That’s what helped me succeed.

10. Do you have any tips to share on promoting your business?
Market, market, market. That’s really all you can do. Get your product/business in front of the right people, and magic will happen.

11. What other advice do you have for someone starting their own business?
Patience, much patience. Things do not happen on your time frame. Hang in there, and stick with it!

12. How can we contact you about your products and services?

13. Is there anything else you would like to share?
Owning your own business is a lot of fun, and a lot of heartache, as well as headaches. If you stay with it, your chances of succeeding grow. It may not be the time frame you were looking at, but it will happen. It has taken me 5 years so far, and we are embarking on something that is incredible, a dream come true. So be patient!

Also, always be kind, and always wear a smile, even when it hurts. You’ll go far.
